An ulcer is an open sore or wound that appears on the internal lining of organs (like the
stomach or intestines) or on the external surface (like skin or mouth). It results from damage to
the tissue due to inflammation, infection, or imbalance in digestive fluids.
Types of Ulcers

Peptic Ulcer– In the stomach or upper intestine
- Mouth Ulcer (Aphthous ulcer) – Inside the lips, cheeks, or tongue
- Skin Ulcers – Caused by infections, diabetes, or poor blood flow
- Duodenal Ulcer – Occurs in the first part of the small intestine
- Pressure Ulcers (Bedsores) – From long-term pressure on the skin
